Flower gardening has been in my famiy for at least 4 generations that I know of. Some of my earliest memories are of my maternal grandfather carrying me around as he chattered about his flowers. I had no idea at the time what he was talking about, but I've never forgotten the love, the passion or the pride on his face when he was up to his elbows in his flower gardens.
Although I've been a free-lance landscaper and garden designer for over 25 years, a Master Gardener for 15, and a daylily hybridizer for 10, I don't consider myself any kind of expert. I just love to grow things. Gardening is about trying new things and different ways of doing things until you find what works for YOU, your budget and your lifestyle.
If you don't come into the house from the garden after dusk, with dirt under your fingernails, dried sweat on your face and neck, and an aching back and parched throat, you ain't done yet.....
