Elechomes Humidifier: The Best Defense Against the Winter Cold Season
The updated Elechomes Warm & Cool Mist Humidifier features three levels of warm/cool misting, a humidifying range between 30–80%, two independent 360° spray nozzles, a remote control for distant operation, a massive 5.5L water tank that can last up to 40 hours per fill, and so much more.
This updated Elechomes device is much sleeker than the older unit, with a pleasant, bright design that'll light up any home all while making you feel nice and toasty.
I'm excited to share more about why I've been using this product daily and why it's essential to fighting the dreaded cold and flu season.

What's New in the Updated Elechomes Humidifier?
I have both versions of the Elechomes humidifier, and though both are excellent, the improvements are definitely noticeable in the newer model. These are the best upgraded features:
- Top-Filled Water Tank
- Screen-off Button
- 5.5L With Smaller Footprint
- Child Lock Option
- Essential Oil Tray Placement
- Humidity Sensor
Top-Filled Water Tank
This humidifier can be filled from the top whereas the older model was filled from the bottom, which is a huge difference.
Now I don't have to remove anything; I can simply take off the lid and pour the water straight into the tank or take the tank with me (has carry handle) without having to move the humidifier.
It makes the refill process so much easier, and it has actually increased my device usage.
Screen-off Button
The most annoying part about the other humidifier was the bright LED screen at night. You couldn't ever turn it off even with sleep mode activated.
Now there's a dedicated button on the touch panel & the remote that'll shut it off, making your nights a lot less distracting.
Note: Sleep mode will turn off the LED panel as well as the beeping sounds. However, the heating element won't work in this mode.
5.5L With Smaller Footprint
One small difference with this model is that the tank capacity is 5.5L vs 6L.

And though there's slightly less capacity, it still manages to humidify the same space under a smaller footprint. The efficiency is also much better than before, which cancels out any loss in tank space.
Child Lock Option
Do you have kids that just love to touch everything?
Well with the child lock option, you can freeze the LED panel completely so that nobody will be able to interfere with it, and the lock activation is pretty slick too.
You actually have to press & hold the button for three seconds to activate it, which is quite clever in my opinion.
Unfortunately, this doesn't apply to the button on the remote, but hopefully as parents you'll keep the remote out of sight from your curious little ones.
Essential Oil Tray Placement
The essential oil tray was moved from the bottom of the device to the top near the spray nozzles. Now it's a lot easier to implement your favorite scents, and I feel they're a lot more amplified than before.
Humidity Sensor
The humidity sensor is now on the back of the device and away from the spray nozzles/mist, which makes the sensors significantly more accurate than before.
It's another small but very important detail that can't be understated.
Top Benefits of Using a Warm & Cool Mist Humidifier
So you might be asking yourself, why would I ever need a humidifier and does it actually do anything useful? Those are good questions to consider, and I myself have been skeptical until I started using them more frequently.
Since I've started using the Elechomes humidifiers, I've noticed that my skin has felt a lot less dry/itchy, and it helped alleviate some of my cold symptoms, particularly my dry throat and clogged nose.
How Elechomes Fights the Winter Cold
In New Jersey, we often have strong cold spells, so I decided to use the humidifier with a space heater to save money, and the results were stunning. The air quality got better, the air became warmer, and it never got too dry; it's a perfect combo that I would recommend trying.
4 Reasons Not to Get a Humidifier
So for all the good that humidifier do, is there anything to be concerned about? The short answer is yes, but only if you ignore basic guidelines.
- Price
- Too Much Humidity
- Maintenance and Refilling
- Not Good for Large Spaces
Price
You can get a small humidifier for as little as $20 to $30, but it won't do much. If you really want to make a difference, then you'll have to shell out well over $50 for a solid, small room device.
If that sounds too pricey, then maybe a humidifier isn't for you. Additionally, you should consider where you live, the weather, and how often you would use a humidifier.
Most humidifiers are only useful 4-5 months out of the year and far less in warmer places outside desert areas.
Too Much Humidity
Your indoor humidity should be between 30-60% with an ideal humidity closer to 45%. Anything over 60% can cause damage to furniture, your walls, and it can even aid in the development of mold.
Luckily, the Elechomes devices will never exceed the humidity that you set, so if it's set to 45%, then the device will stop spraying once it hits that mark. The auto recognition not only prevents damage but it makes the humidifier last a lot longer per refill.
Maintenance and Refilling
Most people fail to clean their appliances when recommended, but it's absolutely necessary if you want them to run well.
With humidifiers, you absolutely have to keep them clean and remove things like limescale buildup otherwise the product will malfunction.
Elechomes knows how important this is, which is why they've included a cleaning brush to help you maintain your humidifier.
Cleaning as well as constantly refilling your humidifier may be annoying, but it's the only way to ensure longevity & functionality of your device.
Not Good for Large Spaces
Even the biggest, most powerful humidifiers only work well in small to medium sized rooms that are closed off. The max applicable area under the highest spray setting is 755ft^2, which isn't bad given the single unit.
However if you're looking to moisten your entire home then either opt for multiple humidifiers or try other solutions.
2020 Elechomes Warm & Cool Mist Humidifier: Final Review
I plan on using the new Elechomes humidifier this entire winter because it's such a well-made product and a huge improvement over its predecessor.
After testing the product for a couple weeks, I couldn't find anything wrong with it. It does everything it's supposed to, it has a ton of added features that actually improve on the other humidifier, and it's shockingly affordable.
Everything from the setup, refilling, precision, essential oil tray placement, and added screen-off and child lock options are well thought out and perfectly integrated.
My Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars
I give the updated Elechomes Warm & Cool Mist Humidifier 5 out of 5 stars.
So far, I've been very happy with this product, and I highly recommend it for the dry and cold season. The new Elechomes Warm & Cool Mist Humidifier delivers on its promise by keeping you comfortable, warm, and cold-free all winter long.

I have a humidifier now as winter is here and it can get very dry. This is the second year I have mine and it still works. I will think of this review next time.
