- Modern Design

Cool/Warm Mist Settings
I've yet to own a humidifier that can spray cool and warm mist, so this was a bonus.
The cool mist is pretty standard and it'll gradually moisten the air, but the warm mist does this 30 percent faster and it will eliminate harmful allergens and airborne bacteria in the process.
I look forward to using the warm mist settings during the winter; it's a much better choice than the norm I'm used to and the benefits will be far greater.
Room Scale Humidifier
According to their product page, the Elechomes humidifier can cater to a 750 sq ft. room, which is much greater than other products in this space.
I've been using the device in my bedroom and it was able to raise the humidity levels throughout, but it's probably not ideal for very large quarters.
Still that's a lot more than you'd get from smaller capacity appliances, and I think most consumers will be happy with it.
Everything has a touchscreen, so why not a humidifier.
I particularly love how laid out and clear each function is because companies often like to over-complicate things during the design phase.
The LED screen is fantastic as well...it's so bright & crisp that it will never confuse you.
Now are these features groundbreaking, no, but sometimes it's better to have a device that's straightforward and practical than convoluted.
6L Water Tank
You can't fill a 750 sq ft. room without a massive water tank, but that's only the beginning.
The size of the tank allows for 40+ hours of continuous spray though it'll drain much faster in warm mist mode, high level mode or both.
However there's another outstanding feature on here that goes hand-in-hand with the tank capacity, and it's so powerful that it'll extend the 40 hours into several days.
Intelligent Auto Humidifying & Range
Possibly one of my favorite features so far is the auto/intelligent humidifying attribute.
Through the auto option, I can preset a humidity level (30 to 80%) and let the device do the rest. For example if I set it to 50 percent, the humidifier will spray until the room has moistened to that level and then it'll shut-off.
But that's not all...
If the room's level drops below my preset mode then the humidifier will automatically start spraying its mist again until it gets near my set level.
Furthermore by pressing the "humidity" button you can increase or decrease the level in 5 percent increments (30, 35, 40, 45, 50, etc).
When I unboxed this beast of a product, my initial concern was whether or not I'd be able to sleep with it turned on.
The item is described as "ultrasonic", but I thought that was just a marketing word...thankfully it wasn't.
It truly is an ultrasonic humidifier with a very low 32-34dB noise level that won't disturb your sleep. In fact for some, it may even help them sleep better.
But there's more to it than that, and this next feature has quickly become my favorite.
Sleep Mode & Timer
I absolutely love the dedicated sleep mode setting on my Elechomes humidifier because it pairs so well with the ultrasonic feature.
If you press the "sleep" option, the LED will show three z's and the screen will go completely dark. This means you can place the product right next to your bed and it won't distract you in the slightest.
Moreover the beeping tones you hear whenever you press a button will go away too, which is a brilliant software choice.
The only caveat is that the warm mist settings won't work while sleep mode is on, but I don't think this'll be problematic unless you absolutely require a warm mist spray during sleep.
Finally there's a timer setting with one hour increments if you prefer personal customization.
I think the universal design of the humidifier is very strong, sleek, and modern looking.
The all black color is a plus, the way the touchscreen amalgamation is fantastic, and it's built in a way that makes tedious activities like filling the tank or cleaning it extremely simple.
Remote controls are nothing more than built-in accessories but they do serve a pragmatic purpose.
This remote will give you a lot more flexibility, it's good for when you're lying down/sleeping, and the button layout is identical to the touchscreen.
What more can I say except thank you for the add-on.
This is a brilliant conceptual feature because I own plenty of essential oils and was looking for a way to use them.
Unlike other humidifiers where there's no dedicated aromatherapy option, this one has its own box slot where you can sprinkle a few droplets on a small cotton pad and the machine will circulate that smell once it's turned on.
I've tried this a couple times and so far I've had mixed results. I could definitely get a whiff of the scents but it was quite dull. I soaked the entire cotton pad in essential oils but that didn't make a difference.
Still it's such a good concept that I'd be a fool not to mention, and your results could be entirely different.
Tips & Helpful Guidelines (Cleaning and Maintenance)
So now that you understand what this product device, I'd like to mention some important safety features, tips & tricks that'll keep your humidifier running smoothly.
Device should be kept away from radiators, ovens, and vents
- Mist should be aimed away from appliances, furniture, people
- Make sure tank is filled to capacity and do not operate if it's empty
- Do not touch water/mist or internal elements when device is on
- Do not move the device during operation
- Do not scratch atomizing plate and avoid covering nozzle
- Turn off device if you hear strange sounds or smell strange odors
- Do not attempt to repair the device
- Do not let kids operate device without adult supervision
These safety concerns are explicitly listed in the user manual, but I feel they're important to point out due to the warm mist capabilities. Because the device uses an atomizing plate to heat the water, it's crucial that you follow proper safety protocol when handling the product.
How to Clean & Maintain
All humidifiers need to be regularly cleaned and maintained to operate properly and below are a few important tips that'll help you achieve this.
- Clean atomizing plate with dish detergent twice a week or more
- Clean the air channel and mist tube with dish soap & water
- Use dish brush/sponge to clean atomizing plate, heater, and sink until all limescale is removed
- Drain the dirty water and rinse the device twice
- Fan must be kept dry
- Water tank & sink should be cleaned once a week
- Pour 10mL of vinegar and add water until tank is 1/4 full, close the tank, and shake repeatedly before emptying and rinsing it out
- Adding a water filter (not included) onto the cap is highly recommended and it should be replaced every 3 months
There's more important steps and tricks when it comes to maintaining your humidifier, and they'll all be located in the user manual.
P.S. Kudos to the manual for making each step really easy to understand; that's a rarity with new products.
After a week's worth of testing I've been mostly satisfied with this product. There are a couple things I hoped it could do better, and there's one feature not included that would've taken it from a 9 to a 10 for me.
Overall I'd give the Elechomes Ultrasonic Cool & Warm Mist Humidifier 4.5 out of 5 stars.
The cool/warm misting feature has been fruitful, the tank capacity is more than enough for the average user, and the sleep mode is ideal when you're trying to get some shut-eye.
On the negative side, I don't think the scents come through strongly enough even though I love the idea of an aromatherapy box. Additionally I would've liked if it could also dehumidify the air in order to become a multi-device unit.
Be that as it may, the positives far outweigh the negatives and I've enjoyed using the product and will continue to do so.
In total I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone in need of a feature-filled, immense humidifier because for me it checks all the right boxes.
The Elechomes Ultrasonic Cool & Warm Mist Humidifier is a standout device, and at $99, it's a truly potent, useful, and affordable consumer product.
