My furnace will come on and heat to programmed temp, but after the first time, will not call for heat again to maintain temp. Manually shutting off the thermostat and turning back on gets the furnace to turn on and blow hot air again. I have tried a new thermostat, same issue. Any ideas?

It depends on how low it's going. The thermostat will often have an "anticipator" that purposely lets the thermostat drop a degree or 2 below set point so that it isn't constantly kicking off/on.
