Why is the voltage between Neutral and Ground more than 25VAC in the house we rent now?

The neutral and ground may not be connected together in the house. This would be the case if a TT grounding system is used. Also if the house is fed by a cable with metal armor/conduit and there isn't continuity back to the transformer, this could result in a difference in potential.

The safest thing to do is get an electrician to check out the situation.
