Walmart Apparently Has Tons of Rare Plants for Sale
A plant parent’s dream.
Hide your keys and lock up your wallet because you're about to spend your entire month's budget at Walmart. That's right, they are currently selling some of the most amazing plants in their garden center, and we can't imagine how anyone is going to resist these deals.
Not only are some of these plants on our ISO list (hello, you beautiful polka dot begonia), but they're all listed at $20 or less. We may be in some serious financial trouble here.
Pink princesses, monsteras, chocolate ZZ plants, oh my! Walmart has just about everything a plant lover like ourselves could want right now, according to @lifewithashleyanita, who took a trip to the big box store recently.
She documented all of her great finds for her TikTok followers, highlighting some of the rarer plants she spotted on the shelves while doling out some care advice for would-be shoppers.
Since we're big into plants we popped into the comment section to see if anyone had anything worth noting to share, which is where we discovered that Lowe's is currently carrying similar brands. That's great news for anyone who was a little late to the party and only hit up their local Walmart after the shelves had been cleared, but bad news for the rest of us who are now going to shop at two spots so we can nab some of these beauties.
Most of the rare plants that Ashley found are tropical plants, which can have much different care and feeding instructions than non-tropical plants.
Tropical Plants Need Plenty of Light and Warm Temperatures
As to be expected, tropical plants do best when they're exposed to the same conditions they would have in the wild, which means a lot of sunlight and warmth.
This can be accomplished by putting them in a sunny spot by the window, or by splurging on a grow light. Just be sure you're watching the leaves. Some of these plants prefer their sunlight to be dappled, which means they don't like to be directly in the sun. Double check the tag that comes with your plant so you don't risk burning any leaves.
You May Need to Provide a Humidity Source
Another thing plants from the tropics like? Moisture. That's why a lot of these types of plants end up in the bathroom, because they thrive in those hot and humid areas.
You can keep your plant out of the bathroom and on full display by coming up with some alternative moisture solutions though, which include misting, tenting, or getting a humidifier.
